8 Things to love about SHeepadoodles

1. Intelligent and Trainable: Sheepadoodles inherit the intelligence of both their parent breeds, the Old English Sheepdog and the Poodle. This combination makes them highly trainable, eager to learn, and responsive to commands, making them excellent candidates for service dog training.

2. Hypoallergenic Coat: The Poodle genes contribute to the Sheepadoodle's hypoallergenic coat, making them suitable for people with allergies. Their low to non-shedding coats are manageable and less likely to trigger allergic reactions, making them ideal companions for individuals with sensitivities.

3. Gentle Temperament: Sheepadoodles are known for their gentle and affectionate nature. They form strong bonds with their owners and are incredibly loyal, making them not only great pets but also excellent emotional support animals or therapy dogs.

4. Adaptable to Various Environments: Whether living in an apartment or a spacious home with a large yard, Sheepadoodles adapt well to different living situations. Their moderate energy levels mean they can thrive in urban settings or enjoy more rural environments, making them versatile companions.

5. Excellent with Children: Sheepadoodles have a patient and tolerant demeanor, making them wonderful companions for families with children. They are gentle and playful, often forming strong bonds with kids and serving as loyal protectors and playmates. One thing to note is that Old English Sheepdogs are herding dogs, so if you notice herding instincts in your puppy, we highly recommend taking some puppy training classes to redirect this behavior while they're young.

6. Versatile Working Dogs: Beyond being wonderful pets, Sheepadoodles excel in various service dog roles due to their intelligence and temperament. From guide dogs for the visually impaired to therapy dogs providing comfort in hospitals, their versatility allows them to serve in a wide range of capacities.

7. Alert and Protective: While Sheepadoodles are affectionate and friendly, they also possess a natural instinct to protect their loved ones. They are alert and attentive, making them effective watchdogs who will alert their owners to any potential threats. Even so, our Sheepadoodles are trained with a variety of common noises (cats meowing, dogs barking, fireworks, cars on the road, etc.) from puppyhood so that they are less likely to bark at these sounds.

8. Longevity and Health: Sheepadoodles often inherit the health benefits associated with "hybrid vigor," a phenomenon where crossbreeding can result in healthier offspring. With proper care and regular vet check-ups, Sheepadoodles can enjoy long and healthy lives, providing companionship and assistance for many years.

Sheepadoodles combine the best traits of their parent breeds to make exceptional pets and service dogs candidates. Their intelligence, gentle temperament, adaptability, and versatility make them well-suited for various roles, from beloved family companions to valuable working partners. Whether as a loyal pet or a dedicated service animal, Sheepadoodles bring joy, comfort, and assistance to the lives of those fortunate enough to have them by their side.
